Nothing makes me feel more patriotic than to swallow a big, dry piece of bread and drinking a whole gallon
of water. I get the same feeling of pride when I open a window at -10 degrees and tell everyone that fresh air is important for them.

It's the legacy that our grand grand grand parents reported to us. "Stosslüften" and eating the most dark, dry bread with the hardest breadcrust you can find. If you don't eat the crust it's gonna rain for a decade.

A few years ago, I worked as a fortune-teller in a variety show at the Oktoberfest and got to know it a bit. I found a lot of things there annoying, but also some things funny.

I know Bavarian humor well from my own family and, as a village child, I definitely understand the charm of a cozy village festival. But I can't walk around alone at such festivals.

The reason: I am a woman. It is incomprehensible to me that a folk festival has such great importance in German society, where at least half of the people can not move around without hesitation. This is the short version of an anger thought.Oktoberfest could be so beautiful if it were completely different.
